The environment is a critical interface between our health and ailment. The integrity of the environment depends on us as much as we depend on it. It is therefore, by necessity, the obligationn of this generation to safeguard our own life support system and ensure its sustainable management. As we mark the World Environment Day, aptly themed Celebrate Biodiversity, it is hugely important to be reminded that our unbridled exploitation nature’s diverse resources and its destructive impact have resulted in a serious backlash which must be halted by the aggregate sum of our individual contributions in protecting our life’s shield.
The ill effect of negative environmental spillover is starkly demonstrated by the current pandemic. Hence, we entreat all citizens, government and non-governmental organizations, businesses and scientific institutions in Ghana to strengthen national strategies to maintain healthy ecosystems through substantive and inclusive dialogue between all stakeholders including the youth.
As we battle our way through this pandemic, we encourage young entrepreneurs and business leaders to adopt environmental safety protocols that ensure congenial working environment and maintain the well-being of their workforce.
Happy World Environment Day!
